Parenting Seminar
Do you ever wonder if your child’s behavior is developmentally appropriate? Do you notice you and your child have a relational cycle that feels stuck? Do you desire more resources to help you and your child connect better?
Join us for a Saturday morning, 2.5 hour seminar to help address some of the most commonly asked questions. This seminar is designed for parents of children birth-elementary school age where we will cover developmental norms, relational cycles, and ways to attune and connect differently with your children. We will provide opportunities for reflection about yourself in the cycle and dynamics with your children and time for collaboration with your spouse. Following the seminar, parents can schedule parent coaching sessions to continue the conversation. The seminar will be facilitated by Lauren Herndon, MA, LPC, RPT and Brandi Laperriere, MA, LPC, RPT.

Brandi Lapperiere
Brandi is the co-founder of Grace Nova Counseling and a licensed professional counselor. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She brings experience working in a variety of settings including schools, churches and private practice.
Brandi believes change is possible and is a process. She believes healing occurs in relationship and the counseling relationship can facilitate growth and change. She is a Registered Play Therapist and is also trained in EMDR with a focus on working with children and families that have experienced trauma. She has received training in Emotionally Focused couples and family therapy.
Brandi works with children, adolescents and families exploring issues of trauma, anxiety, attachment, adoption, depression, body image, grief, separation, divorce, and family system dynamics.
To rest and restore, Brandi spends time with family and friends, reads, walks and enjoys time at Lake Anna. She also loves eating at new and old restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area
Brandi and her husband, Andy, and their five children live in McLean, VA.
Lauren Herndon
Lauren is a licensed professional counselor and specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Lauren worked many years on church staff working with Children’s Ministry, postgraduate young adults, and community groups.
As a counselor, Lauren aims to provide a warm and inviting space where clients can explore more of their story and begin to heal. Using a holistic and integrative approach tailored to the needs of her clients, Lauren incorporates Child-Centered Play Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT informed), Theraplay®-informed practice, and mindfulness techniques. She works with clients who are exploring areas of anxiety, depression, suicidal/self-harming thoughts, life transitions, grief and loss, unmet expectations, behavioral issues, and emotional regulation.
Lauren is a Registered Play Therapist™ and EMDR trained.
Lauren lives with her husband, Nate, and daughter in Arlington, VA. She enjoys being with family and friends, playing pickleball, reading, and being outside as much as possible.
