Nadia Fraga
Nadia is a resident in Clinical Social Work, approved by the Virginia Board of Social Work to work toward licensure under the supervision of Adele Martelle, LCSW and Kelly Stephenson, LPC. With many years of experience in the mental health field, Nadia has supported clients in schools, social service agencies, domestic violence shelters, and Christian ministries.
She believes that healing involves the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and walks alongside clients as they make sense of their emotions and stories, many of which are held not only in the mind but also in the body. Drawing from Polyvagal Theory and somatic modalities, she helps clients become more grounded, connected, and resilient by understanding how their nervous systems shape their experiences.
As a multiracial therapist of Chinese and Costa Rican heritage, Nadia brings a deep respect for cultural complexity and holds space for those navigating multicultural identity, intergenerational dynamics, and family-of-origin wounds. She draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment & Family Systems Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Nadia is certified in Applied Polyvagal Theory in Therapeutic Movement for Trauma Recovery (Levels 1–3) and enjoys working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She speaks conversational Spanish and is glad to incorporate it when helpful for connection or clarity.
Nadia enjoys helping couples build strong foundations for connection, communication, and emotional safety—whether in premarital work, the early years of marriage, or seasons of transition. Her clinical interests also include anxiety, trauma, grief, multicultural identity, and family dynamics.
A Northern Virginia native, Nadia loves hiking in the Shenandoah with her family and has a passion for all things gastronomic. She lives in Fairfax with her husband and their four children.
