Lauren Herndon
Lauren is a licensed professional counselor and specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Lauren worked many years on church staff working with Children’s Ministry, postgraduate young adults, and community groups.
As a counselor, Lauren aims to provide a warm and inviting space where clients can explore more of their story and begin to heal. Using a holistic and integrative approach tailored to the needs of her clients, Lauren incorporates Child-Centered Play Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT informed), Theraplay®-informed practice, and mindfulness techniques. She works with clients who are exploring areas of anxiety, depression, suicidal/self-harming thoughts, life transitions, grief and loss, unmet expectations, behavioral issues, and emotional regulation.
Lauren is a Registered Play Therapist™ and EMDR trained.
Lauren lives with her husband, Nate, and daughter in Arlington, VA. She enjoys being with family and friends, playing pickleball, reading, and being outside as much as possible.
