Ellen Hilliard


Ellen is a Resident in Counseling approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling working towards licensure. She is currently under the supervision of Brandi Laperriere, LPC. She specializes in working with adolescents, college students, and adults. Previously, Ellen has worked as a school counselor and in private practice. She also has extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults in mentorship, coaching, and church volunteer roles.

As a counselor, Ellen works hard to create a safe and welcoming therapeutic space so that clients can be honest with what they are experiencing and feeling. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they seek to live healthy and integrated lives. Ellen utilizes person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and strengths-based counseling in her work. Her areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, body image, grief, and trauma.

Ellen lives in Burke, VA with her husband and two young daughters. She enjoys reading, watching college basketball, and spending time with her friends and family.
