Elizabeth Malavathu
Elizabeth is a Resident in Counseling approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling working towards licensure. She is currently under the supervision of Kelly Stephenson, LPC.
Elizabeth works with children, teens, adults, and parents using an attachment-based and trauma-informed approach, seeking to meet her clients where they are with compassion and understanding. She approaches clients from a place of curiosity and empathy as she collaboratively creates with clients a non-judgemental space to process trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, behavioral/attachment issues, and life transition challenges.
Elizabeth also has experience providing Child-Centered Play Therapy and has worked with children and their parents to address challenges faced at home or school. Her approach draws from evidence-based modalities such as Existential and Attachment-based theories, as well as DBT and ACT. She is committed to effectively serving clients from all backgrounds, races, religions, sexual orientations, and neurotypes.
Outside of the office, Elizabeth enjoys being in her garden or in the many beautiful parks of Northern Virginia and spending time with her friends and family.
