Group Leaders

Emily Lawyer

Emily is a Resident in Counseling. A former schoolteacher and church staff member, she has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. As a therapist, she collaborates with clients to empower them in their growth. Utilizing an integrative, trauma-informed approach that draws from Interpersonal Neurobiology, CBT, DBT, and Narrative therapy, she is passionate about journeying with people as they find healing in a compassionate, empathic environment. Her areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, grief and loss through life transitions, and working with those who find themselves in unhealthy relationship patterns.  

Emily is a certified facilitator in the Relate Strong therapeutic model, the PREPARE/ENRICH marital assessment, and has completed trainings in the Gottman Method level 1.

She lives in the Falls Church area and loves attending concerts and playing live music, reading, and spending time with friends.

Christina Rawls

Christina is a Resident in Counseling. Before becoming a therapist, she worked in the arts as a performer, educator, and consultant for several arts and international aid organizations. She specializes in working with children and adults who have experienced trauma, grief, and loss.

As a therapist, Christina believes in a collaborative and creative therapeutic process. Her client centered and trauma informed approach to counseling utilizes a variety of modalities to suit the needs of her clients. Her areas of clinical interest include: trauma; domestic and sexual violence; grief and loss; reverse culture shock; anxiety; and depression. She has additional training in Psychological First Aid and the SERVE model for treating complex trauma.  

Christina lives in Arlington, VA with her husband, two daughters, and Shih Tzu. She enjoys singing with her church’s worship team, teaching her children to swim, and CrossFit.
